This Privacy Policy describes how Receipt Scout ("we", "us", the "App") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — your email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and a Google account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
• Receipt images — photos of receipts you choose to scan.
• Parsed receipt data — information extracted from your receipts (merchant, date, total, currency, line items, category).
• Subscription status — whether you have an active premium subscription (handled by our payments provider).

2. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
• To extract structured data from receipt images and show your spending.
• To enforce free-tier limits and manage premium subscriptions.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the App.

3. Third-party services

We share the minimum data necessary with service providers that help us run the App:

• OpenAI — receipt images are sent for processing to extract their contents. See OpenAI's privacy policy for details.
• Google Sign-In — used for optional authentication.
• RevenueCat — manages subscription purchases and status.
• Hosting provider — stores your data on secured servers.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Data retention

We keep your account and receipt data until you delete it or request account deletion. Receipt images are used for processing; parsed results are stored to power your history and statistics.

5. Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Account → Delete account), or request deletion by email. Full instructions and details of what is removed are on our Delete Account page.

6. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on access- controlled servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
